Our Population
Who We Walk Alongside
Girls Ages 12–18
Girls who may benefit from prevention-focused mentoring, life skills, emotional wellness support, positive connections, and supportive programming—including girls in foster care or who may be considered at risk.
Young Women Ages 19–22
Young women who are transitioning from or have aged out of the foster care system, and who may benefit from continued mentorship, life skills, and community connection as they navigate early adulthood.
Eligibility
Who May Qualify for Our Programs
Becoming Her Initiative serves participants within our current service areas in Mecklenburg County and Gaston County, North Carolina. Eligibility is based on program criteria in addition to geographic location.
- Girls ages 12–18 in foster care or who may be considered at risk
- Young women ages 19–22 transitioning from or who have aged out of foster care
- Participants within our current service areas in Mecklenburg County and Gaston County, NC
- Girls and young women referred by DSS, schools, community agencies, foster-care organizations, or families
- Those seeking mentorship, life skills, emotional wellness support, or community connection
